Today’s competitive world yields nothing without a fight. Similar is the world of pest control where today customers have a lot of options to choose from. Thus, each system has to prove it’s money’s worth. Two such popular systems of pest control are the Sentricon® termite elimination system and the Termidor pest control system. But which system is better, is it the Sentricon® or the Termidor system? Let us, explore this in greater detail.
The Sentricon® elimination system
The Sentricon® elimination system uses simple biological pathways and the natural behavior of termites to eliminate their population and ensures that they are unable to regenerate. The termites work in groups like every other colonial pest. One group amongst them finds cellulose-based food sources and marks them with pheromones. Another group eats that food and regurgitates later in the Colony. This regurgitated food is then eaten by the other members inside the colony. The Sentricon® system induces a special “ingredient” in the baited cellulose material present in the Sentricon® Stations. The termites eat that cellulose material and regurgitate it in the Colony which is later consumed by the members in the colony. As the chemical used is an inhibitor it kills the termites slowly rather than instantly. This doesn’t allow the termites to locate the source of poisoning. The Sentricon® stations are kept active by a certified Sentricon® specialist to ensure that the termites are unable to regenerate. Keeping the property termite-free for a long time.
The Termidor pest control system
The Termidor pest control system uses complex chemical pathways to kill termites and other pests almost instantly. It uses the regurgitating of food property of the termites similar to the Sentricon® system to eliminate their colonies entirely. It has two options of baiting or liquid to control termites. It uses a chemical called “Fipronil” to eliminate termites. The termites eat Fipronil induced food and then regurgitates it in the colony. The other members in the colony eat it too and thus it spreads through the Colony in a short span of time and eradicated the Colony almost entirely. Once used, the chemicals in the Termidor system can remain active for a period of about 10 years.
What’s better? Sentricon® or Termidor.
The Sentricon® elimination system and the Termidor pest control system both have the own pros and cons. But which system is better than the other? Or are they both the same? We shall explore it in the table below:
Termidor | |
It relies mostly on biological pathways. | It relies mostly in chemical pathways.
The chemical used here is Noviflumuron for baiting only. | The chemical used here is called Fipronil for both baiting and sprinkling.
The chemical used here is not harmful for humans. | The chemical used here is harmful and toxic for humans, especially when ingested.
It needs a certified Sentricon® specialist for installation. | It doesn’t require any specialist and can be performed by anyone.
It doesn’t contaminate anything else while eliminating termites.
It can continue nearby water bodies while eliminating termites.
It can remain active forever if the Sentricon® Stations are service properly.
It can remain active for a period of 10 years
It acts equally on pests other than termites. | It acts less effectively on other pests compared to termites.
Thus the Sentricon® system might cost a bit more than the Termidor system but is far more effective than the latter. Hence, the Sentricon® elimination system provides more than it’s money’s worth compared to the Termidor system, which makes it worth spending on. The rest is for you to decide.
